Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of taxonomies, metadata schemas, and controlled vocabularies.
  • Ensure the enterprise taxonomy is always the “source of truth” across the organization and manage change implementation in the enterprise systems.
  • Draft policies and procedures that will ensure proper control and maintenance of the taxonomy.
  • Govern and coordinate the decision committee meetings, agenda, business unit leads, and all subsequent key taxonomy actions.
  • Implement interconnectivity between various systems, including content management systems (CMS), while working with IT and developer teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure taxonomy aligns with organizational goals.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of taxonomy usage and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams on taxonomy best practices and standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in taxonomy and information architecture.

Expertise and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 -10 years of experience in taxonomy development, content strategy, content management, knowledge management, information architecture, or library science.
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining taxonomies.
  • Strong understanding of metadata, tagging strategy, and content workflow.
  • Proficiency in taxonomy management tools and software.
  • Experience with content modeling and design is a plus.
  • Experience assessing current state scenarios and facilitating the creation of roadmaps for migration to proposed taxonomies.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable strategies.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to coach peers, guide others to perform at the highest level, and step up as leader to drive consistent processes.
  • A desire to understand the “big-picture” of organizational problems and contributing to alternative solutions.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
