Hourly Range: $22.04-$25.51
Classification: Temporary
Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible
General Summary: Under general supervision, assists in the development and implementation of the Lancaster Museum of Art and History’s visual presence and marketing needs. This role is responsible for designing creative assets, textual layouts, and the museum’s websites. The Media Assistant plays a critical role in communicating with the public about upcoming programming events, exhibitions, workshops, community engagement opportunities, and special initiatives. Additionally, the Media Assistant – Graphic Design will be a key member of the marketing team, capable of delivering relevant creative ideas and necessary media support to the organization. This position reports to the PARCS Museum and Arts Supervisor.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Sr. Media Assistant, develop, implement, and manage the museum’s marketing strategy.
- Assist Sr. Media Assistant, develop engagement, retention, and retargeting strategies.
- Create visual text, imagery, and video concepts using computer software.
- Design graphics to meet the organization’s specific commercial or promotional needs.
- Design materials such as flyers, signs, banners, branded merchandise, billboards, and social media. posts, magazines, videos, advertisements, posters, etc.
- Testing graphics across various media platforms to ensure adaptability.
- Prepare finished designs in a timely manner, staying aware of shifting deadlines.
- Assist in transforming statistical data into visual graphics.
- Maintain an expansive asset library.
- Assist in planning concepts by studying relevant information and materials.
- Coordinate with outside agencies, artists, printers, publishers, magazines, and other partner institutions.
- Stay up to date with the latest design trends and technologies.
- Assist in ensuring brand continuity across all platforms.
- Assist in maintaining museum websites and composing newsletter layouts.
- Assist in developing and managing cross-platform paid ad campaigns.
- Work with other Media Assistants to meet marketing department deadlines.
- Lend support with any social media needs.
- Provide creative/graphic support to museum management and other departments.

Minimum Qualifications:- Previous Media Assistant, Graphic Designer, Visual Communications, or similar role desired
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
- Proficient use of Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom
- Photography experience – familiarity with DSLR camera
- Familiarity with web design and publishing using Wix Editor (not Wix ADI)
- Familiarity with Canva.com Competence in UX/UI design
- Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
- Knowledge of design principles and color theory
- Knowledge of graphic design principles, color management, resolution, file types, scale, etc.
- Basic office skills (printing, Microsoft Suites, etc.)
- Enthusiasm for design, art, community, history, and culture

- Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable
