Description:The temporary Communication Manager assists Emory Law during the leave of an employee and is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communications plans that recruit and on-board students for all degree programs. Our degree programs include Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Legal Studies (JM), Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Comparative Law (MCL), Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD), and joint programs with other Emory University schools. The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Admissions and works in partnership with the communications team.
The Communication Manager Duties may include:
- Work with the Admission team to develop and execute integrated marketing and communications plans that recruit students for all degree programs.
- Plan, produce, and promote video, photo, website, social, digital, and print storytelling targeted toward prospective students, in coordination with departmental colleagues.
- Plan, develop content, and execute fall semester email campaigns targeted toward candidates, tracking and reporting on key metrics. Supervise IT employee responsible for executing JD fall travel emails.
- Work with advertising agencies to plan, develop content, and monitor campaigns that attract degree candidates.
- Assist admission staff in the use of a customer relationship management system (CRM).
- Manage timelines, budgets, writing, editing, and production for print and digital communication pieces, including accepted students viewbook, degree brochures, student postcards, event materials (such as preview day fliers), programmatic fact sheets, and annual employment report, among others. Work with departmental colleagues to manage print production and mailings.
- Work with admission colleagues to plan online and in-person recruiting events, such as open houses (fall), admitted students events, affinity group events, and webinars.
- Establish metrics, monitor campaign performance, and implement data-driven changes that further improves performance.
Job Description:
- Responsible for the integrated communication and promotion of divisional programs and services.
- Collaborates with others to develop and implement programs and communications materials for targeted audiences which enhance awareness and utilization of divisional programs and services.
- Creates effective promotional materials including articles, brochures, forms and flyers.
- Designs, oversees and updates a website to educate and to promote activities and programs; coordinates website with other related websites.
- May manage a budget.
- May assist in evaluating, measuring and responding to issues related to the quality of services provided.
- May conduct evaluations, surveys and focus groups to assist in quality improvement efforts.
- Researches constituents' satisfaction with divisional programs and services.
- Develops reports and recommendations to sustain high quality.
- May supervise or provide direction to staff. Leads projects as assigned.
- Serves as an internal marketing consultant for programs and services.
- May be responsible for managing various aspects of social media activities.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, art or other related field.
- Five years of experience in the development of marketing and informational materials, writing/research, project management and/or information technology.
- Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Knowledge of publishing and other related software.
- Demonstrated creativity in the design of marketing, public relations or educational programs and communications materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the admissions cycle in higher education.
- Experience with law school admissions.
- CRM experience with an emphasis in MS Dynamics.
- Social media content creation.
- Understanding of best practices in publishing and visuals.
