The Eligibility Division of the Human Services Agency is seeking an experienced individual for an Administrative Assistant I position. This position provides support to the areas of electronic content management, project management, information technology governance, business intelligence, information collection and analysis, administration of user satisfaction surveys, development of procedures and policies, and contract administration. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervise office support staff. Coordination of the mail scanning and data entry for application processing. Collect information from a variety of sources and synthesize the data into a report format with recommendations. Assist with the development of procedures and policies to implement and streamline agency and program strategic directions. Assist with community level data collection, data entry, and running reports from databases. Assist staff with implementation and coordination of projects. Respond to citizens' issues and work interdepartmentally to resolve them. Supervise support services staff. Perform secretarial tasks such as scheduling appointments/meetings, filing, typing, finalizing correspondence, and sorting mail. The ideal candidate will: Experience supervising or leading staff. Experience with CalSAWS, CalHEERS, and/or MEDS preferred. Be experienced in information gathering, analysis and presentation. Be skilled in using office automation and communication technologies, including Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving skills. Be able to manage a large and varied workload with changing and conflicting deadlines. Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is graduation from an accredited college or university, with a degree in Public Administration, Accounting, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field OR four years of responsible administrative or supervisory clerical experience. Knowledge of: Modern office methods and equipment. Skill/Ability to: Learn quickly and interpret the law and policies governing the operations of the department; good judgment; work as a team; plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinates effectively; and work independently and demonstrate initiative.Departmental Promotional Only.
