The Front-End Developer translates design concepts into responsive, branded web interfaces. This role is responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive Figma component library and page templates to ensure consistent branding across the Office and seven colleges websites. The Front-End Developer works closely between teams to deliver web projects from conception through completion, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with institutional goals. Related support
duties are performed as needed to enhance brand cohesion and user experience across digital platforms.
• Design Translation and Development: o Translate high-fidelity designs from Figma into fully functional, responsive web pages. o Ensure design consistency by developing and maintaining a Figma component library that reflects the unique branding of the Office and each college. o Implement design elements that align with brand standards, ensuring a unified digital identity across all platforms.
• Project Execution and Collaboration: o Lead the front-end development for web projects from inception through to completion, collaborating with teams to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables. o Participate in cross-functional meetings to gather requirements, share progress, and refine deliverables to meet institutional goals. o Work with web and design teams to ensure cohesive UX/UI that aligns with accessibility and usability standards.
• Technical Development and Maintenance: o Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Vue, or Angular) to build responsive web components. o Implement and maintain CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS) and libraries to ensure consistent styling and functional components. o Develop and maintain WordPress templates that support the Content management strategy for flexible and scalable content publishing, enhancing both usability and content portability. o Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize front-end code to improve site performance and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
• Quality Assurance and User Experience: o Conduct QA testing, including cross-browser and device compatibility checks, to ensure the highest level of quality and functionality. o Ensure web projects adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA) for an inclusive and accessible user experience. o Collect and act on feedback throughout the project lifecycle to refine design translation and development processes. o Participate in site launch and migration tasks testing cross-browser functionality
• Brand Cohesion and Component Management: o Maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms by building out a standard Figma component library as brand standards evolve. o Work closely with teams to integrate new branding elements into the component library and website templates. o Support content and design updates that reinforce a consistent user experience across digital channels.
• Education: o Bachelor's Degree in Computer Graphics/Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent certifications.
• Experience: o At least three years of relevant front-end development experience, with a strong focus on translating design to code.
• Technical Skills: o Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks with an emphasis on responsive, mobile-first UI/UX design. o Strong skills in Figma for component library management and high-fidelity design implementation. o Experience with CSS frameworks like Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS and modern JavaScript libraries (React, Vue, or Angular). o Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA) and best practices in inclusive design. o Familiarity with form tools like Gravity Forms and experience with image library management. o Experience with version control (Git) and code optimization practices for cross-browser compatibility. o Basic PHP knowledge and experience with WordPress development is a plus.
• Soft Skills: o Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration. o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. o Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, culturally diverse environment.
WORK CONDITIONS • Remote Work: Must have a stable internet connection with a minimum speed of 300 Mbps. • Hours: 9-5pm CST.
