About the role

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Marketing Director to lead all marketing and communications efforts at January Digital. This role is pivotal in amplifying our brand presence, cultivating deep relationships, and generating high-quality leads to support rapid growth. You will leverage your expertise in event marketing, partnership marketing, lead generation, relationship building and content strategy to position January Digital as a thought leader in the retail, beauty, wellness, ecommerce, consulting, and other adjacent sectors. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, and seamlessly balances strategic vision with hands-on execution. This role reports directly to the President of January Digital, and will oversee one internal direct report as well as freelance and contract resources.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Generation:
    • This role is responsible for driving qualified leads for our agency, consulting, growth and analytics practices. As such, this person will leverage their experience, deploy best practices, and design and implement truly thoughtful and unique marketing campaigns that nurture leads through targeted digital and offline channels.
    • Work closely with the executive team to find the right contacts, in the right organizations, with the right message, and offer value in order to optimize the marketing funnel.
    • Establish KPIs to measure the success of marketing initiatives.
    • Provide regular reporting, insights, and informed points of view to drive future strategies.
  • Event Marketing:
    • Lead the development and execution of an annual events strategy, encompassing industry conferences, bespoke gatherings, client appreciation initiatives, and support on internal events.
    • Ensure events are strategically aligned with lead generation and relationship-building goals.
  • Relationship Marketing:
    • Drive creative relationship-based marketing strategies to attract and retain high-value clients.
    • Develop initiatives that prioritize trust, collaboration, and mutual value creation.
  • Brand Management:
    • Uphold and evolve January Digital's brand identity to ensure consistency across all touchpoints - including employer branding, marketing efforts, and new business activities.
    • Continuously refine messaging to resonate with target audiences in retail and ecommerce.
  • Public Relations:
    • Cultivate relationships with media outlets and secure opportunities for press coverage, speaking engagements, and awards.
    • Manage communications to align with the company's mission and goals.
  • People Management:
    • Manage a Sr. Manager of Marketing who creates and oversees our content, ensures we excel in thought leadership, serves as a leading representative of the organization internally and externally, and manages event interaction, award entries, client relations and many other responsibilities.
    • Managing agencies, freelance resources, external and internal experts.
  • Content Leadership:
    • Partner with internal stakeholders to help produce high-quality content that reflects the company's values and expertise. This includes long form playbooks and whitepapers as well as assisting the Sr. Manager as needed on blogs, LinkedIn posts, etc.
  • Partnership Marketing:
    • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors and partners (like digital platforms, analytics providers, etc.) in order to collaborate for marketing success.
    • Create a comprehensive partnership marketing plan, in collaboration with internal subject matter experts, to best reach new clients and retain existing clients through partnered efforts.
  • Travel Requirements: This role requires up to 25% travel. Must be able and willing to travel between NY & Dallas offices and to client meetings and industry events within the U.S., as needed.

Who You Are
  • You excel in developing relationship-driven lead generation strategies. You have worked directly with founders and/or executive teams to closely align on marketing strategies, and stay a step ahead of value-added follow up to prospects.
  • You bring deep expertise in creating meaningful connections and one-of-a-kind experiences through event marketing and hosting. This will include both custom planned and hosted events for clients and/or prospects as well as supporting January Digital's involvement in key industry events and conferences through speaking, attending, sponsoring, hosting, or offering thought leadership.
  • You are known as an exceptional verbal and written communicator, with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, capable of building trust and inspiring action both internally and externally.
  • You have a track record of marketing innovation and structured testing. This means you possess a growth mindset, always thinking about what to test next and how to grow in differentiated and brand-right ways, as well as the results to show for it.
  • You have hands-on experience driving thought leadership into the marketplace through media relations, press pitching, executive expertise and content expansion.
  • You think like an entrepreneur - thriving in collaborative environments, equally comfortable driving independent initiatives, and ultimately bringing a sense of pride and accountability to all marketing touchpoints.
  • You have a proven track record of excellent people management. This means you have the experience, the attitude, and the desire to manage and help guide an incredibly talented existing team.

Qualifications
  • 7-10+ years of marketing experience in a B2B environment, within advertising, digital marketing, digital consulting, retail technology or other adjacent industries.
  • Proven expertise in executing high-impact event marketing strategies, including conferences, client and prospect events, and bespoke gatherings.
  • Strong understanding of relationship-oriented marketing approaches that drive long-term business partnerships.
  • Hands-on experience scaling a business through generation of high quality leads that turn to new business.
  • Exceptional content strategy and creation skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives that position the brand as a thought leader.
  • Knowledge of public relations, media outreach, and industry influencer engagement to enhance brand visibility and credibility.
  • Product marketing and partnership relations background a huge plus.

January Digital is committed to providing our employees with flexible work options that allow them to balance their professional and personal responsibilities. As such, we offer a hybrid work policy that allows employees to divide their time between working in the office and working remotely. Under this policy, employees are required to work in either our Dallas or NYC office at least 5 days per month, however you are welcomed to come in as often as you'd like! These days will be determined by your manager and/or team.

The salary range for this role in New York City is $135,000 to $165,000, depending on experience. Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes a bi-annual performance bonus, free health insurance, annual wellness stipend, company 401k contribution, & more.
