Under the direction of the Executive Producer, the Associate Audio Producer is a member of the audio production team that collaborates on audio content that embodies the 2018 Positioning Statement for the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald from the Christian Science Board of Directors.

The Associate Audio Producer stays up to date with current media trends and opportunities, analyzing the features that make audio content warm, inviting, authentic, dynamic, clear, substantial, and memorable. In keeping with our responsibility to “stay abreast of the times” (Church Manual p. 44), content produced will follow the most exemplary media trends and practices, while showcasing a uniquely Christian Science message that can transform the lives of both newcomers and members.

Audio content, in particular, has an inherent ability to convey authentic messages that can reach unprejudiced hearts and minds—inside and outside the Church—longing for what Christian Science has to offer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs a wide range of professional audio editorial activities including promotional content, under the direction of the Executive Producer for Sentinel audio and special podcasts. Participates in the production team’s established pitch process where topics and potential guests are suggested, books the guest, and edits the podcast recording. (25%)
  2. Manages the production of the audio edition of the current issues of The Christian Science Journal, the Bible Lens feature, and is back up for the Christian Science Sentinel, The Herald of Christian Science, the Teen Connect, and the Online Exclusive section of the Christian Science Sentinel-online. (50%)
  3. Training. (5%)
    • Provides editorial support during interview recordings.
    • Proactively keeps current with podcasting trends and best practices.
  4. Back up work. (10%)
    • Backs up the Herald and Sentinel audio production work as needed.
    • Composes correspondence to guests and others as needed.
    • Occasionally produces audio content for the Christian Science Daily Lift from edited Sentinel Watch episodes.
    • Works with the production team to develop special projects and executes them as needed.
  5. Assists with intern onboarding.

STAFF MANAGEMENT AND JOB CONTACTS

Reports directly to: Executive Producer

Regular Contacts: This position regularly interfaces with employees throughout the TMC, external contacts throughout the Christian Science Field, other specialized guests, and the program audience.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience: This position requires a Bachelor's degree. A demonstrated ability to produce audio segments as well as to work with the production team to initiate and assist with designated phases of audio production in support of the mission of the Christian Science periodicals is required.

Demonstrated commitment to spiritual healing, Church activity, and a passion for sharing publicly accessible content that supports Christian Science practice for anyone interested in healing.

Knowledge/Skills: Strong production and coordination skills are required. Ability to work effectively with the production team and engineering staff is necessary. Strong interpersonal, communication, and editing skills are required. A well-developed depth of professional judgment is preferred.

Technology Skills: This position requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Pro Tools). Ability to operate recording equipment is required. An ability to perform searches on the Internet is required.

Work Environment: This position works regularly in an office environment.

Engagement with Christian Science: Membership in The Mother Church and Primary Class instruction required.
