Your Impact
Reporting to the Executive Director, Content Strategy & Growth, the Content Strategy Manager helps lead, shape, and execute audience acquisition efforts and experimentation for two key brands in the Hearst Magazines Lifestyle Group, The Pioneer Woman and Prevention. This position collaborates closely with editorial leaders to craft publishing plans and devise experiments to improve audience engagement.
While guiding the SEO strategy is a primary focus, this role also advises on efforts across affiliate commerce, memberships, newsletters, video, and more to grow and better engage our digital audiences. We are looking for a data-driven decision maker, who is deeply curious about consumer behaviors on and off platform and eager to help us uncover what's next for digital media.

The base salary for this role is between $74,000 and $83,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Own and execute the end-to-end SEO strategy for two of our Hearst Magazines Lifestyle Group brands (The Pioneer Woman and Prevention), with an eye towards driving valuable conversions (e.g. shopping, newsletter subs, member acquisition)
- Work with editorial leaders to develop and refine daily/weekly/monthly content efforts that generate meaningful engagement across onsite, newsletters, and social/video platforms.
- Keep a pulse on our brands' industries for news opportunities and emerging trends, and pitch those ideas to edit, backed by data, for potential coverage.
- Track progress and ideate new long-term growth initiatives that help meet our business goals across commerce, site registration, paid subscriptions, and more.
- Regularly dig into the data - using Google Analytics, Looker, SEM Rush, SimilarWeb, and other BI data tools - to diagnose content, conduct competitive analysis, track revenue success and engagement, find content gaps, and propose new experiments. Comfort with testing and iterating to improve efficiency is key.
- Develop ongoing training programs for new and existing staffers; regularly evangelize best practices throughout the organization, partnering with other content strategy and SEO team members, editorial leadership, and more.
- Lead regular meetings and provide recaps that will be shared with all editors, editorial leadership, and executives that highlight insights, report on experiments, and celebrate wins.
- Partner regularly with other teams, including affiliate commerce, ad sales and marketing, product and engineering, consumer marketing, and more around launching new experiences and improving existing promotions.
Qualifications
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of content strategy experience, with specific experience in technical and publishing-focused SEO disciplines
- Keen sense of what content works well online and innate curiosity to sniff out emerging trends
- A willingness to embrace change, to adapt strategies on the fly, and to use data to pull out insights that turn into action
- Proficiency with Google Sheets/Excel and Google Analytics as well as experience with Google Search Console and other SEO tools (e.g. SEMRUSH, Google Trends, etc.)
- The ability to create and manage content schedules and deliverables, keepings projects on track with targeted deadlines
- Exceptional communication skills
- A personal interest in home design and wellness is a plus
