BUILD, Inc. (Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is presently seeking a committed, self-motivated, and innovative individual to join our team. The Creative Arts Specialist is responsible for the implementation of arts programming within BUILD Arts Academy. The Creative Arts Assistant is expected to create and implement arts programming after school. The assistant will run specific classes and also be available to work with the Manager on other arts-related programming. The Creative Arts Specialist reports directly to the Manager of STEAM.


Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Exemplifies the mission, vision and values of the agency.
  • Implements activities and sessions within the Brand BUILD Arts Academy.
  • Operate professionally in the field on a flexible time schedule, which includes late evenings and weekends.
  • Collaborate with other staff to implement programs within the agency.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested, required and/or assigned.

Communication and relationship management

  • Represents the agency to broaden community awareness and support, interpreting the agency’s programs and services.
  • Updates caseload on a weekly basis and submits information to Manager of Intervention Services.
  • Attends departmental and agency-wide staff meetings, as scheduled, and agency-wide events, as required.
  • Maintains current knowledge in the field including but not limited to, participation in coursework, seminars and workshops.

Fundraising

  • Participates in agency wide fundraising events.
  • Encourages participant/community participation in agency wide fundraising events.


Requirements:
  • Experience in the arts specific to the BUILD Arts Program
  • Minimum two years of experience working with inner-city youth in a human service setting, social service setting, or related field.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Automobile is required with insurance and a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain respectful and appropriate relationships with program participants, all levels of agency staff and the various publics of the agency, demonstrate sensitivity to all ethnic, racial, and economic backgrounds.
  • Must be willing to travel daily.
  • Must be passionate about youth development work.
