We also offer minors in each of these areas and an interdisciplinary minor in journalism that combines classes in graphic design, photography, English writing, and communication.

Barry University in Miami Shores is hiring an Adjunct Faculty member to teach journalism and media production courses. We seek professionals with a master's degree or equivalent in Journalism, Media Production, Film, or a related discipline and industry experience.

Responsibilities include developing and delivering course content, guiding practical projects, and mentoring students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, content production, strong technical skills and a collaborative spirit.

Essential Functions

In collaboration with the appropriate academic/director, the Adjunct Faculty will:

  • Produce a comprehensive syllabus.
  • Create, administer and evaluate exams, papers and projects.
  • Employ appropriate academic online resources (e.g., Canvas, etc.).
  • Schedule at least one office hour per week, per course section, to address students' questions, issues, concerns, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A master's degree or higher in Communication (or closely related area) and 18 graduate hours in Speech/Communication discipline (or closely related)
  • Higher Education experience preferred
  • Excellent communications skills
