Producer Job Description

The team at FOX23/KOKI in Tulsa wants someone who wants to produce newscasts that make a difference to viewers and someone who is dedicated to journalism. We will help you grow. In the last six months two of our producers went onto top ten markets (BTW this was each of their first producing jobs out of college) and another became an executive producer. I cannot promise that will happen to you, but I can promise that we will help teach you as much as we can about producing newscasts. We have a team that constantly works to improve. We have monthly workshops where we are guaranteed to learn something new. Our team is dedicated to putting on – as our slogan says – “news that matters.” Also, Tulsa is a great place to live and work, and it’s a lot less expensive than many other parts of the country. If you are smart and dedicated, you will be a great fit for the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produces newscasts for broadcast across all platforms.
  • Writes and orders news stories.
  • Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism (or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts.
  • Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism.
  • Must be well-read in current affairs and have a wide range of working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects.
  • Flexibility to work any shift.
