Rocky Mountain Public Media is the parent company of Rocky Mountain PBS, KUVO Jazz, and The Drop. The Community Producer is responsible for producing the KUVO Jazz morning show, and creating community affairs and arts and culture content on KUVO, including audio production for the KUVO, while maintaining overall standards and practices of news, public affairs and production operations.

Every day, Rocky Mountain PBS publishes trusted journalism online and on social media. Our journalism is readily available to the hundreds of thousands of people in Colorado - and beyond - who receive our newsletters, stream our documentaries on YouTube, or engage with our journalists on Instagram.

We are seeking a social media editor who will help us reach more Coloradans - and deepen our existing connections - by sharing thoughtful, deeply-sourced journalism and documentaries.


Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily management of Rocky Mountain PBS' social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn)

  • Create and/or edit social media assets (e.g., short-form video, graphics) based on Rocky Mountain PBS journalism and documentaries

  • Create and/or edit social media assets that include on-camera work and narration

  • Work with Rocky Mountain PBS journalists to optimize their work for social, mobile and desktop platforms

  • Upload, format and publish edited journalism on rmpbs.org

  • Working with newsroom editors, manage the home page and news pages of rmpbs.org

  • Coordinate with executive producer and journalism team leadership to create promotion plans for in-house productions

  • Produce newsletters that showcase the work of the Rocky Mountain PBS journalism team

  • Track audience data on social media and rmpbs.org using sites like Google Analytics

  • Communicate audience data with the journalism team and make suggestions on optimizing our worked based on audience data

Minimum qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience related to this role

  • Knowledge of AP style, news writing and online journalism ethics

  • Knowledge of different social media platforms, with a history of identifying and adapting to different trends and workflows on each platform

  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts

  • Experience meeting deadlines while balancing multiple projects

  • Experience working with content management systems, photo and video editing software, and project management software

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience producing newsletters

Experience working in a newsroom

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Office environment, Radio on-air Studio environment, audio production suites, etc. Occasional field production, including remote broadcasts on location, and news conferences, both indoor and outdoor.

The position requires the ability to lift and carry production equipment up to 50 lbs.
