The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for CATF's 2025 Concessions Interns. CATF, a summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays each season in four venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located 90 minutes from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America's coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV.
A member of the Audience Services Team, Concession Interns strive to provide radical hospitality to all CATF audience members and help facilitate an exceptional festival experience.
Concessionaire responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing excellent customer service to audience members
- Assisting the Box Office team by taking ticketing phone calls
- Serving pre-packaged concession items and beverages (including alcohol) to audience members
- Selling merchandise to audience members
- Setting up the Square system to quickly and efficiently sell products
- Maintaining a presentable concessions area, including the concession stand and lobby areas
- Working with other members of the audience services team to provide a positive front of house experience to guests
- Working with and reconciling cash and daily sales reports
- Ordering concessions and stocking inventory as needed
Being a member of the Audience Services Team requires a collaborative working mindset, an enthusiasm for working with and assisting the public, interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and feeling comfortable working with technology.

Internships are designed for individuals who are 18 years or older.
Depending on the department, internship positions begin between mid-May and late June and go through the beginning of August. Concessionaire Intern Contracts start at the beginning of July.
All staff and interns are provided free air-conditioned housing within walking distance of air-conditioned theaters and work spaces, and free use of the university's gym, pool, and laundry facilities.
