The Opportunity

The Head of Content Strategy Regional is based in our Princeton, NJ headquarters. Reporting to the Head of Global Strategic Communications and PR in our headquarters in Munich, you will perform two primary duties. First, you will be functionally responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating Munich Re's content across the regional teams. In addition, you will serve as a people manager, setting the strategic and tactical day-to-day direction for employees in executive communications, content, HR communications, media relations, and events in North America (Com 1.2) and other select markets in line with Global Com’s strategy.

You should be an experienced professional who can think like a journalist and marketer at the same time, act decisively, and maintain an overview of relevant topics and all communication channels. You will work closely with management to coordinate Group-wide communication activities, align them with corporate objectives, and ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels. You must stay abreast of emerging communication trends and technologies to drive innovation, improve communication effectiveness, and analyze KPIs to measure the impact of communication efforts and gain insights for continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with peers to develop, steer, and ensure effective delivery of corporate communications and the integrated business support plans in North America to meet business objectives. You will leverage global best practices, tools, and formats for region-specific initiatives as a member of Global Communications. You will coordinate closely with the center of excellence leads for HR communications, events, media relations, and corporate content based in Munich to ensure consistency in approach and that best practices in execution are well-understood and implemented in the local teams. You will collaborate with peers cross-functionally in Marketing Communications to develop and execute business support plans in the best interest of our business stakeholders. You will also lead the global strategy for, and manage the staff supporting, corporate and business content creation for the same markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the N.A. Com 1.2 team to ensure seamless collaboration and execution across the functions and in line with Global Com strategic direction.
  • Develop and execute the global content strategy for select markets, with close collaboration with the Munich Corporate Content team.
  • Strategically lead and manage complex, large-scale cross-business unit initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Munich managers leading the centers of excellence in Munich.
  • Represent the N.A. Com 1.2 team as a key account to c-suite business leaders and global com peers.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to employees, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment.
  • Facilitate effective team meetings and collaborative sessions to ensure strategic and tactical alignment between local, regional and global teams.
  • Ensure consistent and effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts within the team, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Recommend and coordinate professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Implement processes and best practices to improve team efficiency and outcomes.
  • Lead the team’s contributions to all integrated business support plans for select markets.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in senior positions in journalism, editing, corporate communications or consultancy preferred.
  • 5+ years of people management required with ability to lead decentralized staff in multiple locations preferred.
  • Strong interest in global issues and deep understanding of global social/political trends and innovations.
  • Exceptional editorial and copywriting skills for all digital and analogue formats.
  • Extensive experience with content marketing concepts and implementation of content marketing strategies, communication trends, analytics and best practices in digital and traditional marketing and communications.
  • Highly creative, open to change, collaborative, with excellent people skills to communicate ideas quickly.
  • Experience successfully leading complex cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Strategic, creative, and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft products.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a hybrid office environment.
