Director of Creative Media

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:
The Director of Creative Media is responsible for creating engaging content and collaborating to set digital distribution strategy in support of the Colorado Mesa University Athletic Department. This position will advance the brand of Maverick Athletics, its programs, and student-athletes through a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conceptualizing and producing video content for social media, recruiting, television or digital distribution to service individual sport programs and the Department as a whole; videotaping of events and interviews; working with other creative professionals to develop and enact best practices and meet the Department and University's overall creative vision; multimedia asset management and archiving of gathered footage; training and supervision of student workers, and other creative and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be innovative, knowledgeable of current social media trends, and always striving to learn and improve upon productions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

•Create, manage, and execute a digital content strategy for all Colorado Mesa University Athletic Programs, including weekly video series/updates, competition previews and recaps, special projects and campaigns focusing on educational topics such as diversity and inclusion, mental health, and Title IX.

•Collaborate with CMU University Marketing and Communications Department, along with television partners to enhance CMU Athletics brand through innovative and engaging digital content creation.

•Producing highlight and interview packages, behind-the-scenes features, public service announcements, competition previews and recaps and profiles of student-athletes, coaches, and administrators throughout the calendar year for use on the athletic official website and social media accounts and by sponsors and corporate partners.

•Highly skilled in photo and video editing software with an advanced understanding of social media and video trends and technologies with the ability to fully produce high-quality videos and web broadcasting of athletic competitions.

•Experience working with a variety of media formats and multimedia files and working knowledge and experience with digital recording equipment (white balance, focus, aperture, gain, aspect rations, frame rate, audio levels, etc.)

•Proficiency in using social media and video platforms including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

•Familiarity in graphic design utilizing Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro and After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Live Type, Soundtrack, iDVD, etc.

•Must be able to work evenings, nights and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

•A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

•Two years of progressive professional experience in a related field

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or other editing software

•Must possess highest level of integrity and act ethically in all interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Master's degree preferred in sports marketing, radio/television production, sports broadcasting, internet broadcasting, sport management or related field with an equivalent five or more years of experience in working in a field related to digital media services in intercollegiate athletics.

•Knowledge of the logistics of graphic design and video editing, along with web design.
