At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position in the United States can be found in the JOB INFO section below. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Engineering function. As a Product Designer, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
S&C is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Founded in 1911, the Chicago-based company designs and manufactures switching and protection products for electric power transmission and distribution systems.
S&C's Custom Engineering organization designs Engineer-To-Order solutions for a portfolio of products including Manual, Remote Supervisory and Source-Transfer Vista for a wide range of customers including electric utilities and industrial/commercial power users. In this job, you will report to the Manager - Custom Engineering.

In this job, you will report to the Manager - Custom Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing switchgear control systems and metering circuits to meet specific customer application requirements using S&C automation products
- Designing panel layouts, wire harness and cable assemblies, and generating Bills of Material
- Specifying low voltage electrical components including protection relays, RTUs, communication devices, and instrument transformers.
- Defining requirements and writing custom instructions for production testing of control circuits
- Generating supplementary instruction sheets that describe the operation of control circuitry.
- Participating in cross-functional design teams to ensure customer needs are satisfied through high quality product designs that are delivered in a timely manner.
- Providing support and to act as a technical resource for problem solving activities in both design and production processes
Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):
- Associated degree in an Electrical Field or equivalent.
- Experience in design and drafting of electrical schematics and interconnection diagrams for low voltage control circuits.
- Proficiency in the use of CAD systems, preferably Zuken, MicroStation, Solid Edge, or AutoCAD
- Experience in, or working knowledge of, medium voltage switching, and protection products and systems is not required but is a plus
- Must be self-motivated, well organized, and skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical abilities with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Outstanding problem-solving skills
