Position Summary
The Library Service Center is recruiting for 2 Warehouse Clerk positions. Under the supervision of the Head of the LSC, the Clerks will process, store and retrieve materials in the high-density, remote shelving and service facility for library materials.

EDUCATION:
Required: Work requires knowledge of basic grammar, mathematical and clerical principles normally acquired through a high school education.
Preferred: Associate's degree or higher
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Six months of experience in a warehouse, shipping, or mail room setting to become familiar with the basic concepts of package handling and delivery operations. Must have valid NC Driver's License and be eligible to drive a Duke vehicle. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
Preferred: Prior experience working in a warehouse or an academic research library; knowledge of CAIASOFT or similar inventory management system; knowledge of ALMA or similar cataloging system; prior experience operating a forklift.

Position Summary
The Library Service Center is recruiting for 2 Warehouse Clerk positions. Under the supervision of the Head of the LSC, the Clerks will process, store and retrieve materials in the high-density, remote shelving and service facility for library materials.
Responsibilities
Performs various duties necessary for the operation of the LSC:
- Prepare materials for shelving: This includes, but is not limiting to vacuuming materials; assembling book trays, barcoding materials, sizing and sorting materials onto trays or carts, keying verification of the locations of materials into inventory system
- Photocopy materials for library locations on campus
- Search, retrieve and package requested materials for physical delivery
- Retrieve material, photocopy and digitally deliver material to requestor with appropriate data entry
- Process renewals, recalls, overdue notices and invoice billing for items declared lost
- Perform other duties as assigned
Other Departmental Duties
- Serves as backup for Facilities and Logistics Department when necessary (including driving/delivery/mail sorting and distribution).

- Frequently moves library materials weighing up to and over 50 pounds
- Frequently operates a forklift to shelve and retrieve materials
- Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to shelve and retrieve materials
- Constantly positions self to reach high and low shelves
- Frequently works at heights up to 30 feet above the floor
- Frequently works in a temperature and humidity-controlled area (50°F and 30°RH)
- Frequently works in an environment in which exposure to materials containing dust and mold is possible
- Occasional weekend shifts required
- Must have valid NC Driver's License and be eligible to drive a Duke vehicle.
