Description

Noblis is seeking Technical Writers to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Systems and Surveillance Services directorates within the Program Management Organization (PMO). Employees will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation to support FAA's projects and initiatives. You will participate in projects from the planning stage, providing necessary documentation support and ensuring all written materials are complete and accurate. You will work closely with technical teams to gather information, understand project requirements, and produce and maintain cohesive and comprehensive documentation that reflects the latest information and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage the technical team to write, review, compile, or edit cohesive technical documentation and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Provides research and writes professional documents, including program reports and procedures, documentation, and training materials.
  • Compiles diverse policy, technical, statistical, demographic, or financial information and translates for understanding by non-technical personnel or broader uses bases.
  • Edits professional documents for content, format, flow and integrity in conformance with best practices.
  • Determines the suitability of material for target audience. Involved in projects from planning stage. Provides additional or missing materials and edit written copy.

Required Qualifications
  • Successfully pass an FAA background investigation/verification and receive a successful final suitability determination.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, document editing, and content creation.
  • Strong background in compiling and analyzing diverse types of information for clear communication.
  • Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to determine the suitability of material for different target audiences.
  • Must have experience using MS Office.
  • Familiarization with standards, styles, and formats for publishing in scientific and/or technical journals and publications.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
  • Successfully pass an FAA background investigation/verification and receive a successful final suitability determination.
  • U.S. citizen or green card permanent resident who has resided in the U.S. for 3+ years


Educational and Experience Requirements

Work experience that is not relevant to the labor category definition will not be considered in the "Years of Relevant Experience" calculation.

Senior-level
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience with bachelor's degree in in English, Communications, Technical Writing or Technology Management or related/ relevant discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
  • Master's degree or MBA in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.
  • PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.
  • Compensation Ranges - D.C. and NJ: $74,500 - $141,075

Mid-level
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with bachelor's degree in in English, Communications, Technical Writing or Technology Management or related/ relevant discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
  • Master's degree or MBA in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.
  • PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.
  • Compensation Ranges - D.C. and NJ: $56,000 - $87,500

Junior-level
    • Minimum of 1 years' experience with bachelor's degree in in English, Communications, Technical Writing or Technology Management or related/ relevant discipline.
    • 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
    • Master's degree or MBA in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.
    • PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.
    • Compensation Ranges - D.C. and NJ: $50,900 - $87,500

Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and standards.
  • Experience in creating documentation and training materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in using document editing and content management tools.
  • Providing current support to FAA ATEPS II (air traffic engineering program support)
  • FAA Experience within the past 12 months
  • Current FAA suitability



Locations may vary depending on location of the project. Some primary on-site locations include: Washington D.C., Egg Harbor NJ, and Oklahoma City OK.

Possibility of some roles allowing for remote/hybrid employment.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.

Posted Salary Range

USD $50,900.00 - USD $141,075.00 /Yr.
