General Summary
Responsible for plumbing project designs. Creates, obtains, evaluates, coordinates, and distributes 3-dimensional BIM models for use by estimating, purchasing and operations using but not limited to BIM modeling software such as Autodesk Fabrication CADmep, Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Navisworks.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Coordinates design drawings and piping layouts with various trades on a per project basis to ensure proper fit (HVAC, plumbing, electrical etc.).
- Provide design oversight to all design-build projects and assistance to project managers on design-assist projects as well as coordination efforts for typical construction sites.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret the Wisconsin Plumbing Code.
- Represent Hooper Corporation in matters of project coordination and technical assistance as required.
- Communicates with appropriate parties to resolve design issues, change orders, and approvals. Maintains organized records of active projects.
- Assists with technical interpretation and writing of RFI's as need arises.
- Create and maintain standard processes & procedures.
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Maintains high level of competency of software through continued use, training, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Helps with project estimating as it relates to potential design details and design hours required.
- Provide project kick-off information and attend meetings.
- Performs field surveys when necessary to determine actual field conditions to ensure the designed system will fit the given building structure.
- Assist with the Revit to fabrication process to maintain viable database.
- Performs additional assignments per project manager's direction.
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships in the BIM and software industries.
- Performs other duties/special projects as assigned.
- Works in normal office environment from a sitting position with a computer. Repetitive typing and computer use required. Regular bending, twisting, and light lifting with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Makes job site visits as necessary requiring driving personal vehicle.
- Works on field construction sites in all kinds of weather to survey site conditions and resolve coordination issues with the trades.
- The ability to climb up and down ladders and steps on site is required with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 2-year associate degree in 3D design or relevant plumbing experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, NAVIS works, REVIT, or other applicable software. Additional training provided.
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must be able to handle multi-tasking and set priorities.
- Must have the ability to work as part of a team.
- Good analytical and problem solving, verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Comfortable working in a team environment with 30 - 40 personnel, designing approximately 20 - 30 jobs per year
