Summary

Creative Learning Preschool (CLP) is seeking a candidate who is able to build quality connections with children, families, and staff. This candidate exhibits excellent organizational and time management skills. Applicants must be willing to learn all facets of each position within the school to support every team member to the fullest extent possible. We are seeking a career candidate who values the importance of longevity in an administrative team.

CLP is a play-based nonprofit preschool conveniently located just off Capitol Square in the heart of Madison. CLP is committed to providing a nurturing environment that supports the emotional, social, physical and cognitive development of all children. Duties

Health and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with licensing health and safety standards.
  • Ensure current public health guidance is being followed.
Children and Families
  • Foster positive family relationships, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective families.
  • Assist with scheduling and conducting tours with prospective families.
  • Assist with admissions paperwork and waitlist updates.
  • Track and maintain child files to meet licensing standards.
Classroom Support
  • Help ensure all classrooms are safe, responsive and nurturing environments for children.
  • Support teachers with clerical assistance, paperwork, and on-call classroom coverage.
  • Serve as a substitute teacher when staffing necessitates.
  • Assist staffing coordinator with substitute teacher schedules when unplanned absences occur.
Human Resources
  • Assist with staff recruitment.
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining staff files to meet licensing standards.
Stakeholders/Community Partners
  • Attend monthly CLP Board meetings as needed.
  • Attend meetings with community partners as needed.
  • Assist with drafting grant applications and ensuring compliance with grants.
Shared Clerical Responsibilities
  • Respond to phone calls and emails.
  • Order supplies.
  • Track and schedule building maintenance needs.
  • Assist with weekly family and bi-weekly staff newsletters.
  • Offer technical assistance to teachers and families.
  • Assist with the maintenance of CLP’s website and social media accounts.


Requirements

  • Passion for early childhood education and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collectively and compassionately solve problems as they arise.
  • Takes initiative and anticipates the needs of the center as a whole.
  • Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Meet physical requirements of the job including; lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, sitting on the floor, and walking long distances.
  • Proficient with google workspace applications.
  • Proficient with child care computer applications.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have completed high school or its equivalent, as determined by the Wisconsin department of public instruction.
  • Meet licensing requirements for child care administrators or willingness to complete required training.
  • Meet the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families group child care teacher qualifications.
  • Registry certificate or willingness to become a member.
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Willingness to complete licensing required pre-service certifications.


Nice To Haves

  • Early childhood education experience with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Degree or credential in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Experience working in school administration.
