JOB TITLE: Mold Designer
LOCATION: Accumold Office
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Provides engineering support to the tool room, production and quality. Primary responsibilities will be producing tool designs that will enable the production of equipment and tools needed to manufacture plastic injection molded components and subassemblies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce data that will be used by tool room personnel to build tools. Such tools are primarily plastic injection molds, but will also include auxiliary equipment and assembly equipment. Data will be in the form of model, assemblies, 2-D drawings and other methods needed to effectively communicate ideas to other technical employees.
- Communicate with customers regarding product design and product functionality in order to assist in mold design.
- Lead Design Review meetings with technical team
- Review customer models to customer drawings to verify no discrepancies
- Contact vendors to quote and order custom parts for mold build as needed
- Work with multiple different teams on production improvement projects
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Education/Experience. Two years of post high school education coursework or equivalent related office experience required plus minimum of three years electronic drafting and modeling experience preferred. Personal computer skills required. Knowledge of tool making is preferred.
- Computer Skills. Ability to operate personal computer, fax machine, copy machine and telephone required. Above average knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD and I-Mold required. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel knowledge preferred.
- Language Skills. Proven written communication skills necessary. Oral communication skills necessary for speaking on occasion to groups. Ability needed to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and organizational rules and policies.
- Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability. Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Other Skills and Abilities. Must possess the interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with a broad spectrum of Accumold staff and customer organizations. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and a professional relationship with fellow workers and the general public.
- Supervisory Responsibilities. None.
- Physical Demands. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may be required to stand and walk and sit for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Dexterity to perform computer operations necessary.
- Work Environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Office conditions are normal.
