Job Summary/Description:
Eastern Carolina's #1 news station, WITN, is seeking a dynamic journalist to be a leader and morning anchor. We are looking for a journalist who is determined to help us win on every platform every day. It's a strong journalist who will share some of the biggest stories in our region and the state. It's an experienced anchor who can connect with the community to keep their finger on the pulse of news in Eastern Carolina. Having a strong social media presence is a must. If you want to be in a newsroom where you feel like your work is valued, where you will lead by example and coach young journalists as well as receive coaching and strong leadership, and where you will contribute to a stunningly beautiful and vibrant community, this is it!
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Anchor newscasts as assigned
•Anchor live events from our streaming desk
•Conduct live interviews
•Present news stories in a fair, unbiased manner, ensuring the information is accurate and of interest to viewers
•Use editorial judgment to help determine the content of the newscasts
•Work with producers and teams to create unique, fast-paced newscasts
•Write for the web and post daily on digital platforms including social media
•Develop story ideas to assist news-gathering efforts
•Develop contacts and sources in the community
•Mentor young field reporters, check/approve stories/scripts
•Turn occasional special reports for promotion
Qualifications/Requirements:
•Dynamic storytelling skills
•Polished delivery
•Ability to connect with viewers
•Good writing and video editing skills, knowledge of AP Style
•Good communication skills
•Solid news judgment
•A consistent track record of meeting deadlines
•Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
•Self-starter skills
•Knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as content management systems and social media
•You MUST provide a link to your resume reel
•MVR check will be run
•Familiarity with ENPS, Edius, TVU, Arc a plus
