LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a Graphic Designer.
Location: Bethesda, MD. Teleworking eligible.
Job Description:
The Graphic Designer will provide services in support of the overall functions of the Associate Director of Management and Operations, Vaccine Research Center (VRC), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops communication strategies and plans that align with overall program objectives and goals.
- Continually support new communications methods and approaches to increase efficiency in achieving goals and objectives, and ensure that communications visual information is tailored to suit the appropriate audience and distribution methods.
- Assist with the development of VRC messaging and other products to communicate research successes and promote VRC capabilities, highlights, and other messaging needs.
- Develop content to support internal and external messaging and communication needs, including internal SharePoint site, scientific posters (design, layout, formatting, and printing), internal newsletter (drafting, formatting, publishing), infographics conveying both technical/scientific and non-technical information, meeting materials, and signage. 3
- Prepares written and electronic information documents for various audiences.
- Develop visual, illustrated, and graphic design communication products, including scientific/technical figures and illustrations, organizational branding materials, announcements, and PowerPoint slides.
- Develop specialized branding, illustrations, and graphic design materials covering complex subject matter areas for various purposes and audiences.
- Develop scientific and technical materials regarding research programs, activities, and scientific accomplishments.
- Research and write in appropriate scientific or technical style various communication products, to include press releases, newsletter articles, media releases, fliers, web content and video and podcast scripts.
- Research and design various visual media to include graphics, artwork, and photographs.
- Conducts media and content analysis.
- Monitor the effectiveness of media campaigns through traditional and social media channels, assess results and report findings.
- Assist in ensuring that all public messages, materials, and strategies for target audiences are credible, clear, and meaningful.
- Maintains social media and Internet sites, and updates content and materials.
- Assist with the development of messaging and other products to communicate research successes and promote capabilities, highlights, and other messaging needs.
- Perform site administration functions related to updating content and design and managing site settings and security protocols.
- Coordinate photographic and videographic resources to capture quality imagining and footage for posting to social media and Internet sites with appropriate captions.

- Visual, graphic, and illustrative content review and updates with communications group - Weekly
- Review and update internal and external facing communications-related messaging and web content - Monthly
- Other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, commercial art and graphic design, molecular biology, or miscellaneous biology.
- Minimum of 1 - 2 years of related experience including experience as a business, technical, or scientific writer.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.), SharePoint, publishing software, graphic design software, illustration software (BioRender, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to visually communicate both non-technical and basic scientific ideas to the general public.
- Proficiency proofreading and editing business, technical or scientific documentation.
- Experience organizing information and gathering information related to the development of reports, briefings, and media outreach.
- Knowledge of computer technology such as desktop publishing systems, graphics, software, and basic HMLT coding to create, edit, and prepare materials for publication.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Expected Salary Range: $60,000 - $110,000 annually. Salary will be based on related experience, education and skills.
