TSC's Innovation and Rapid Development Division is actively recruiting an experienced Technical Illustrator/Writer to coordinate and develop manned/unmanned aviation and maintenance related publications, checklists, technical orders, job guides, syllabi, plans of instruction, job aids, and related standard operating procedures (SOP).The primary and preferred location would be Sierra Vista, AZ (Fort Huachuca), but open to remote candidates with the ability to travel on site as needed. The Technical Illustrator/Writer shall report directly and assist the Chief of Standardization and Lead Technical Writer with maturing existing capabilities and further bolster Safety, Training, Evaluations, and Flight Test for all aviation related personnel and activities. The Technical Illustrator/Writer will work closely with the Chief of Standardization and Technical Publications Team, as well as the Aviation Operations Functional area and Program Management Team. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, possess the appropriate ability and initiative, work autonomously, solve problems, and operate in dynamic environment while coordinating information between multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new and maintaining current technical publications and documentation, directly in support of aviation-related personnel/equipment. The supported workforce is distributed across multiple geographically separated sites in support of a sustained global aviation operation network. This role is pivotal to supporting the Director of Operations and Program Manager to grow the scope of service-oriented deliverables in a high-stakes environment. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Develop and maintain aviation documentation compliant with company standards and contractual requirements. Translate complex products and services into clear, engaging, user-friendly content. Create technical illustrations, schematics, and diagrams to improve documentation clarity. Maintain a detailed database of reference materials and research findings. Evaluate and enhance existing content for continuous improvement. Work autonomously, proactively developing and refining deliverables. Coordinate stakeholder approvals, including annual government inspections. Key Tasks: Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to gather information for accurate illustrations and technical content. Create and update procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation. Develop content across multiple media formats for optimal usability and consistency. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements. Use CAD software and illustration tools to produce high-quality visuals. Foster a culture of safety and compliance within aviation and mission operations. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, and 2 or more years of demonstrated experience as a technical illustrator/writer (or engineering drafter) within the aviation/aerospace field; 8 or more years of demonstrated experience as a technical illustrator/writer (or engineering drafter) may be accepted in lieu of a degree. US Citizenship with current secret level DoD security clearance. Experience within a DoD designated Military Design Series (MDS), preferred in the DoD/GOCO Aviation industry. Proficiency in CAD software and technical illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, SolidWorks). Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's in graphic design, technical writing, communications, engineering, a related technical field or supporting discipline. Ability to perform conversions of halftones (photographs) into line drawings and prepare exploded views of equipment to be used in parts breakdowns and for disassembly/assembly instructions. Professional certification (ex: Society for Technical Communication) Learning and Adaptability: Proven ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter, multitask effectively, and adapt to changing situations with minimal disruption. Documentation and Communication: Extensive experience creating documentation and procedure manuals for commercial and Department of Defense programs. Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in both content and illustrations. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in technical illustration and writing. Collaboration and User Experience: Skilled in working with engineers to improve user experience (e.g., design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support materials. Proficient in 3D modeling, rendering, and using XML tools for documentation creation. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Costpoint, and interpreting sketches to produce technical illustrations. Knowledgeable in DCAA-compliant timekeeping standards. Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong organizational abilities, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accuracy. Interpersonal and Leadership Skills: Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with internal and external stakeholders, making independent decisions, and exercising sound judgment.
