Salary: $2440 (lecture)-$3340 (studio) per class, per term
Location: Lakewood, Colorado

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design seeks qualified applicants to teach courses in the Illustration department on our Lakewood Campus (in person). Ideal candidates are those who demonstrate expertise in the following areas: Digital Painting, Typography, Concept Art I & II, Figure Drawing, Figure Painting, Knowledge of Human Anatomy, Still Life, Painting in Oil and/or Acrylic, and/or Character Design. The Illustration program emphasizes the following: Fundamental drawing mastery that combines observation and imagination to construct expressive images; High-level technical mastery of a range of media through experimentation & practice; Exceptional understanding and usage of visual language and compositional theory to compose dynamic illustrations; Highly effective communication and innovative storytelling; Development of unique visual style and a high standard of professionalism. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Instructional Activities: the practice and art of teaching, including evaluation by students, supervisor(s), and self. Faculty must also comply with all administrative and classroom management policies, procedures, and instructional deadlines.
  • Facilitate meaningful learning of curriculum course, and competencies and proactively support all facets of the learning environment
  • Encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning, and ethics
  • Delivers instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement and effectively planning and preparing for classes for student success.
  • Record class attendance in Faculty Portal and submit midterm/final grades by the due date specified.
  • Hold regular, weekly office hours.
  • Provide timely and periodic feedback to students on assignments and participation.
  • Attend required training sessions and departmental meetings.
  • Execute assessment practices when necessary.
  • Experience in the following areas: Illustration, Sequential Art, Digital Illustration, Landscape Painting, Digital Landscape and Painting.


Qualifications:

  • MFA and substantial professional experience in the design industry
  • Must reside in the greater Denver area or be willing to relocate
  • Must be willing to teach on our Lakewood, CO campus
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience
  • College-level teaching experience
  • ONLINE teaching experience
  • Teaching and Instructional Activities: the practice and art of teaching, including evaluation by students, supervisor(s), and self. Faculty must also comply with all administrative and classroom management policies, procedures, and instructional deadlines
  • Regularly record class attendance in Faculty Portal and submit midterm/final grades by the due date specified
  • Provide timely, periodic, and meaningful feedback to students on assignments and participation
  • Successfully complete an online Faculty Certification Course, a two-week faculty online orientation and certification class administered through RMCAD's Learning Management System
