JOB TITLE:

Collection Management Librarian

JOB PURPOSE:

The University of Wyoming Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative, and patron-focused librarian to support world-class research and teaching through the active development, management, and assessment of the library's monograph and non-serial collections. The librarian will coordinate one-time, continuing, and approval plan acquisitions; will serve as a member of the electronic resources selection, procurement, and management team; and will use analytics and data-driven decision making to improve the collection and patron experience.

This position reports to the Assistant Dean, Resource Discovery & Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in the life cycle of collection activities by collaborating with the collections, acquisitions, electronic resources, discovery teams, and other teams, units, and departments across campus to ensure current collections meet student and faculty needs.
  • Provide leadership in the overall management of physical and digital monograph collections, including approval plan and firm order vendor system integration and maintenance.
  • Communicate, interact and negotiate with colleagues, vendors, publishers, and library consortia for selection and evaluation of library resources.
  • Collaborate on gathering and evaluating data from multiple sources, including usage data, collection and expenditure data, and other data as needed for both decision making and reporting.
  • Maintain an awareness of the trends and issues affecting acquisitions and collection development and management.
  • Regularly review collection development and approval plans to meet the resource needs of researchers and in-person, hybrid, and distance degree programs.
  • Assess the impact of electronic-preferred/prioritized purchasing and vendor platforms on user experience.
  • Represent the division and libraries on committees as requested.
  • Document policies and procedures to ensure consistent practices.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ALA-accredited Master's Degree in library/information science by start date.
  • Experience with or knowledge of at least one library collections related functional area: collections management, collection development, electronic resource management, or collections assessment.
  • Experience with or knowledge of supporting or managing library or related collections.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with or knowledge of print or electronic approval plan collection development.
  • Experience with or knowledge of current acquisition models in libraries.
  • Experience with or knowledge of cataloging/metadata standards.
  • Experience with interpreting analytics and data.
  • Experience working with vendors on materials acquisition.
  • Experience with acquisitions workflows in an integrated library system.
