Job Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

Strategic planning, staff, and operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Oversee the library's technical processes, operations, and staff to ensure appropriate development and maintenance of the library's resources and services. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate library staff.
  2. Supervise the provisions of a collection of appropriate print and electronic resources to support the College's mission. Collaborate with faculty and other college personnel to meet the learning and information resource needs of faculty, staff, and students. Prepare and administer the library budget. Be responsible for the effective procurement, use, inventory, and distribution of all library materials and resources.
  3. Assist patrons as needed by providing instruction and reference services, online and in person.
  4. Participate in the College's institutional effectiveness processes. Develop and implement annual library unit strategic plans. Assess student learning outcomes for information literacy/library instruction. Provide annual reports for library institutional effectiveness as requested and maintain records of library strategic planning and assessment for accreditation reporting.
  5. Participate in college committees and in library-related local, state, and regional professional development opportunities.
  6. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean of Learning Support.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A Master's Degree in Library Science or related field from an ALA accredited college or university and two (2) years professional library experience; additionally, one (1) year supervisory experience is preferred.
