Overview

The Broadcaster & Media Relations Manager is expected to help establish, maintain, and lead a culture of collaboration, innovation, and teamwork within an inclusive positive can-do atmosphere. Specifically responsible for setting that example both internally and externally while holding yourself and others accountable for their work performance along with their contribution to our culture.

This is a seasonal role with employment to start in advance of the 2025 season and end shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 season.

The Broadcaster & Media Relations Manager is the team's lead media relations contact and will serve as the primary play-by-play broadcaster for all Spartanburgers home & road games throughout the season. Broadcasts will be live on MiLB.TV and Bally's LIVE, Fox Sports Spartanburg 98.3 and the potential of some games on linear television. This role will be responsible for writing and distributing press releases, issuing press credentials, facilitating interview requests, and developing productive working relationships with local media. The Broadcaster & Media Relations Manager will also distribute daily game notes, stat packs, rosters, and lineups to each team and members of the media, as well as keep the website, printed programs and all other platforms updated with correct rosters and player stats. This role will also manage the Broadcaster & Media Relations Intern throughout the season.

Game Broadcasts
  • Play-by-play during all Spartanburger's home & away games.
  • Host pregame show and postgame show.
  • Assist in shooting, hosting and producing daily feature elements to be used in stadium, social and on various broadcast platforms.
  • Assist in editing audio and video elements, including highlights, interviews, & commercials.
  • Social media savvy and willing to interact on Bally's Live broadcast.
  • Assist with the management of radio broadcast staff.
Media Relations
  • Build and update a media guide for all home games consisting of rosters, lineups, and statistical information of the home and visiting teams.
  • Assist with all media relations efforts including issuing press releases, accommodating interview requests, administering media credentials, as well as other media information and related duties.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of the Fifth Third Park press box.
Writing
  • Writing game recaps, feature stories for the Homestand Program and articles for the website.
  • Help in writing press releases for roster moves and various club news.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Previous media relations & broadcasting experience required (preferably in Minor League Baseball).
  • MUST be available for the full duration of the position
  • MUST be willing to travel with the team for all road games.
  • Computer literate (knowledge of Word and Excel are a must).
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Video Editing platforms preferred.
  • Experience with Social Media Marketing.
  • Ability to conduct ones self professionally.
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Team player and friendly personality.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with little supervision.
Duties:
  • Broadcast all home and away Spartanburgers games.
  • Oversee radio board operations staff including scheduling.
  • Manage Broadcaster & Media Relations Inern.
  • Interview players for feature stories and pre-game radio guests.
  • Work with the marketing and social media team to develop unique content to be used in-park and on the various broadcast platforms.
  • Opportunity to host pre and postgame shows.
  • Write Game Recaps.
  • Coordinate interview requests with the media and the players/coaching staff.
  • Build, update and distribute daily Game Notes, Stats, Rosters, Lineups to press box and clubhouse.
  • Assist in archiving all statistical archives throughout the years (milestones, team records, etc.).
  • Continue to cultivate potential story ideas, upcoming promotions, player achievements, etc. for the website, Homestand Programs and the media.
  • Maintain player information sheets with contact information throughout the season.
  • Assist marketing team in media day.
  • Assist in photo archiving.
  • Assist in writing and distributing press releases.
  • Assist in producing daily game notes.
  • Set-up Press Box including cleaning, stats sheet distribution, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
