Job Title: Distribution Designer Job Description We are looking to hire 3-4 Distribution Designers to support our Phoenix or Tucson office. As a Distribution Designer, you will be part of our Distribution Group, preparing structural and electrical designs for energy infrastructure projects. You will work alongside engineers and consultants to create designs for high voltage equipment, structures, foundations, and electrical schematics involving both overhead and underground distribution systems. Responsibilities Prepare distribution design for all engineering products and deliverables. Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs. Design distribution layouts, sections, structural and foundation details, bill of materials, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams. Update documentation including checklists, drawing lists, conduit schedules, circuit schedules, drawing requests, and project tracking, primarily using Microsoft Excel and Word. Self-check all work for accuracy before submitting it for review. Understand and meet project schedules and quality requirements. Complete drawings accurately and efficiently. Maintain attention to detail and quality in all work performed. Handle multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changes in work assignments as projects evolve. Actively assist in the delivery of complete projects, which may include communication via phone or email, attending meetings, and managing other project documentation. Provide interdepartmental support as needed. Essential Skills Proficient in AutoCAD. At least 3 years of design experience, with a minimum of 2 consecutive years in distribution design. Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications for engineering drawings. Basic knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems. Knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems. Basic understanding of engineering principles and practices related to the assigned discipline. Capability to operate design software necessary for production tasks. Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Microstation. Experience with AUD. Experience with Inventor. Understanding of terms such as base mapping and right of way. Work Environment You will be part of a team of 7 employees within the design team. The office is located in downtown Phoenix, with the option to work from the Tucson office if you reside in that area. You will be expected to be in the office up to 5 days a week. The first year involves extensive training and initial project work, while the second year aligns employees more closely with the role of a designer, exposing them to the full scope of projects and client interactions. There are four levels of drafting/design, each offering opportunities for advancement and pay increase Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
