Audio Visual Technician Job Description
Position Title: Audio Visual Technician
Department: Banquets
Reports To: Banquets Manager
Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the Banquet Associate is to provide guests with an excellent banquet experience.
Position Summary
The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audio and visual equipment for events held at Embassy Suites by Hilton, which boasts the largest meeting space in the area. This position ensures seamless execution of all AV needs for conferences, meetings, and social events, contributing to the overall success of the Banquets Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Setup and Operation:
- Set up, test, and operate AV equipment such as microphones, projectors, sound systems, and video conferencing tools per Banquet Event Orders.
- Ensure all equipment is functional, troubleshoot issues, and dismantle AV setups post-event.
- Event Support and Client Interaction:
- Collaborate with clients to understand specific AV requirements and provide on-site technical support during events.
- Communicate effectively with event planners and educate clients on equipment usage as needed.
- Maintenance and Inventory:
- Perform regular maintenance, inventory checks, and arrange repairs or replacements of AV equipment in collaboration with the Banquets Manager.
- Prepare and maintain documents for tracking, reporting, and inventory purposes.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Banquets team to coordinate setups and transitions for events.
- Assist with other banquet duties as needed to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
Perform various other tasks within the Banquets Department as required to support overall operations and ensure event success.
- Sanitation and Organization:
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of banquet spaces before, during, and after events.
- Provide coaching to associates to meet cleanliness and service standards.
- Safety and Security:
- Follow all company safety and security policies, including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
- Support AV Department's loss, damage, and theft prevention strategy.
- Additional Duties: Perform various other tasks within the Banquets Department as required to support overall operations and ensure event success.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a related field is a plus.
- Preferred Prior Experience: 6 months serving experience for medium to large groups.
- Proven experience as an AV Technician in a hotel, convention center, or similar setting.
- Proficiency in operating AV systems, video conferencing platforms, and lighting controls.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Food Safety certificate or complete training during initial 90 days.
- Alcohol certification or complete training during initial 90 days.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend and squat repeatedly.
- Ability to walk and stand for the duration of the scheduled shift.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event demands.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, as well as very early mornings and late nights.
