Job Summary:
The Technical Writer (Business Development (BD)) supports the BD lifecycle by developing products, researching opportunities, and analyzing BD-related information. The primary tasks relate to developing and submitting winning proposals. The successful candidate will develop first draft content consistent with solicitation requirements, coordinate and communicate with internal and external team members, improve processes and templates, and provide ideas for tables, figures, graphics, and narratives. This position also supports training, reporting, planning, and strategic goal setting. This may involve slide creation, documenting goals or procedures, analyzing wins and losses, and other ad-hoc tasks that support planning and reporting. Must have an aptitude towards and a desire to learn the BD lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze solicitations to understand proposal requirements and scope of work.
- Develop response templates and outlines.
- Develop first draft content leveraging existing samples from prior proposals.
- Coordinate with internal and external team members to support writing efforts across multiple proposals.
- Edit proposals for grammar, formatting, overall appearance, flow, and compliance with solicitation requirements.
- Develop and complete compliance matrices.
- Complete quality control checklists.
- Maintain proposal information in the salesforce-based BD tool.
- Manage records in SharePoint.
- Develop draft Non-Disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, and Subcontract Agreements from existing templates.
- Maintains BD templates.
- Build the skills, processes, and acumen to become a BD leader with decision-making authority and ownership of BD segments.
Qualifications:
Required education:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college or university.
Required Experience:
- Entry level or no more than 3 years of prior experience in proposal writing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, showing a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in federal consulting, including internships.
- Experience using TechnoMile and/or Salesforce.
- Experience working in the federal business development field.
