Graphic Design and Digital Content Specialist
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Hours will vary due to work assignments.
A flexible schedule for working nights and weekends is required.

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graphic Design and Digital Content Specialist supports the marketing department by executing content
production across a variety of digital and physical mediums including but not limited to social media graphics,
website content, exhibit signage, other on-site signage and various other forms of advertising. This position
also contributes significantly in terms of photography and videography.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Zoo Crew Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relationships with fellow staff
members.
• Communicate with the guests in a courteous and respectful manner.
• Greet guests with a smile and proactively assist guests by answering questions and providing directions to
various areas of the Zoo.
• Exhibit a guest-centered attitude and a genuine interest in the guest experience.
• Help to keep the Zoo grounds clean and safe.
Department Roles & Responsibilities:
● Work closely with the director of marketing and communications and the marketing specialist to
brainstorm content ideas for multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter / X,
YouTube, Tik Tok, Threads and LinkedIn.
● Work with marketing team to produce videos, photos and graphics for social media, the website and other
functions
● Create advertisements for a variety of print and digital placements at the direction of the director of
marketing and communications
● Works with marketing, education, facilities and exhibit design to create new exhibit signage and revise old
signage while endeavoring to create engaging, interactive and educational experiences for guests
● Updates on-site signage including but not limited to pole banners, event sign inserts, gift shop signage,
Wild Burger signage, sponsor banners, etc.
● Maintains physical QR code signage and updates back-end content for exhibits, map, etc.
● Maintains relationships with key vendors to order printed items and ensure deadlines are met
● Helps create new logos and branding concepts as needed
● Maintains branding guidelines for Chattanooga Zoo and sections within Chattanooga Zoo, giving each area
a cohesive, well-maintained appearance
Other Duties:
● Stays current with AI and relevant software trends and practices
● Contributes to member engagement services
● Helps organize and maintain print materials in marketing storage places
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
● Helps produce videos for Erlanger on a monthly basis
● Works with marketing specialist to execute trading card program
• Assists in the preparation and operation of special events after normal Zoo hours as needed
• Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, graphic design, film, communications, or another
business-related field
• Minimum one (1) year experience working in graphic design, videography or another marketing-related
role
• Any combination of equivalent education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of
the position will be considered
COMPETENCIES:
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - primarily Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Premier Pro
• Outstanding graphic design, photography and videography skills
• Understanding of basic marketing principles and technologies used for marketing
• Ability to manage projects with demanding deadlines, across multiple disciplines, simultaneously
• Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills; innovative and creative
• Awareness of current trends and best practices related to social media content
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Driver's license
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
Light: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a
negligible amount of force to constantly move objects. This position requires sitting or standing for long
periods of time, but also may require movement across Zoo grounds
Physical Environment:
This position is generally required to perform work within an office setting and occasionally exposed to
external elements which include heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and extreme weather conditions.
