Overview


Drury Southwest, Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer with experience using Revit to join our team. The Mechanical Designer will produce construction drawings for the HVAC and plumbing systems in both new and existing hotel and commercial building projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, drafting, and modeling mechanical systems in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and building codes.


Duties


  • Develop and draft detailed mechanical system designs using Revit, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other building systems.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and architects to integrate mechanical designs into overall building plans.
  • Create and maintain accurate 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical systems.
  • Perform clash detection and resolve design conflicts in Revit models.
  • Review and interpret project specifications, local and State building codes, and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in preparing material take-offs, schedules, and cost estimates for mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and project timelines.
  • Conduct site visits, as necessary, to gather information for design purposes or verify installation.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of Revit features, industry trends, and mechanical design innovations.
  • Participate in renovation scope trips and coordinate mechanical and plumbing changes into new building design.


Skills and Knowledge


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer with strong proficiency in Revit
  • Solid understanding of building construction
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, plumbing and piping
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (i.e. ASHRAE, SMACNA, ANSI)
  • Proficiency in other design tools such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar software is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
