Position
Candidate must be capable of successfully teaching an array of undergraduate courses in motion picture production. The ideal candidate would teach a large introductory lecture course in production aesthetics, introductory courses in video production, and one or more specialized advanced production workshops in topics such as editing, sound, production design, cinematography, producing, directing, documentary filmmaking, and experimental filmmaking. Willingness to serve as the department's production safety coordinator and the ability to teach in other, related areas may be weighed in a candidate's favor.
CSUF faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline and the development of courses in their area(s) of specialization. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship and creative work commensurate with the requirements for tenure. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,221 to $14,523.00 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $6,581 to $6,713 per month.
Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).
Summer research grants, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.

Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph.D.) in a relevant field by time of appointment or significant experience in professional film production or, preferably, both;
- Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching;
- A promising record of creative or scholarly accomplishments appropriate to the assistant professor level;
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues; and
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with students from marginalized social groups.
