Job Description:
The School of Art in the College of Art and Design at Louisiana State University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Practice in Studio Art, Ceramics to commence in Fall 2025 (one year renewable contract).
Applicants must teach all levels of wheel-based ceramics and cone 10 reduction/atmospheric kiln firing. Knowledge of contemporary clay pedagogy and practices essential. Applicants research/creative work must include vessel production, with experience in 3-D digital fabrication, mold-making/ slip casting desirable.
Teaching assignments include studios, lecture courses, and seminars for undergraduate and graduate levels. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a studio practice, studio area service and some student mentoring. Includes on-campus, private ceramics studio, full access to clay and glaze mixing, kilns, woodshop, 3-D fabrication, etc.

Job Responsibilities:
- Teaching (75%)This position will teach undergraduate general education courses and courses for majors at the undergraduate and graduate level in Studio Art. Familiarity with contemporary art and design discourse, along with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and active creative practice are necessary. Supervision of students engaged in Independent Creative Practice or Fieldwork/Internship or on site Visits to artist studios, galleries, museums, etc..
- Services (25%)Provide services to the School, College, and University, and help in program development. Participate in student advising and mentoring.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MFA in Studio Art or related field
- 2+ years teaching experience at the university level, either during or after their MFA, which may include experience as an instructor of record
- A successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of wheel-based contemporary ceramics including high fire
