Empire State University is currently seeking applicants for the position of Director of Social Media in our Office of Communications. The director of social media will lead the strategy and execution of the university's organic social media presence across all platforms. This role is crucial to aligning our social media strategies with our new website, marketing initiatives, communication plans, and strategic plan. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social media analytics, proven experience in developing/directing engaging content, and the ability to manage a creative team effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the university's strategic priorities and enhances our public image.

Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure social media content is consistent with our new website and brand story.

Analyze and report on social media performance metrics, using insights to optimize strategies and demonstrate impact.

Ensure that all social media content adheres to accessibility standards, making it inclusive for all audiences.

Supervise and mentor a team of social media content creators, fostering a creative and collaborative environment.

Stay abreast of social media trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to keep the university's approach current and effective.

Work closely with various departments to promote events, news, and advancements that reflect the university's commitment to student success and academic and inclusive excellence.

Develop and manage a content calendar that ensures timely and relevant postings across all channels.

Develop and implement a community engagement strategy.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field from a regionally accredited US university or comparable non-US university.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in social media management, preferably in higher education or a relevant industry.

Proven track record of utilizing analytics tools to measure and report on social media performance (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, and/or similar).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and strong strategic thinking abilities.

Experience managing and mentoring a team, with a focus on developing creative talent.

Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The preferred location of this position is Saratoga Springs, other SUNY Empire locations may be considered

Some evening and weekend work, as well as occasional travel, is required.
