Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Procedure Writer to develop, review, revise, and maintain Operations, Maintenance, Administrative, and other station procedures. This position ensures procedures are technically accurate, compliant with station and regulatory requirements, and align with human factor principles. The role is critical to improving station performance by interpreting complex technical information and converting it into clear, actionable steps for personnel and contractors.

Depending on the candidate's qualifications, this position may be classified as Procedure Writer I, II, or III, with responsibilities and pay aligned to the candidate's level of experience.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Duties:

  1. Develop, revise, and maintain station Operations, Maintenance, Administrative, and other procedures.
  2. Implement recommendations from Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and other station organizations.
  3. Ensure compliance with License Bases Documents, including Columbia Generating Stations Technical Specifications, ODCM, LCS, and FSAR.
  4. Verify station procedures are consistent with source documents (e.g., station drawings, vendor manuals, state/federal codes).
  5. Ensure changes comply with ALARA principles, chemical safety, environmental standards, and industrial safety practices.
  6. Prepare and implement Procedure Change Notices and resolve issues identified by reviewers.
  7. Provide technical expertise on procedure-related issues and develop test methodologies for compliance verification.
  8. Collaborate with Engineering to determine correct operation and testing of systems, selecting appropriate test equipment.
  9. Incorporate FAO and OER recommendations and review design changes for procedural impact.


Administrative Duties:

  1. Ensure station documents comply with administrative requirements of the Sitewide PRO series.
  2. Disposition and implement CAP corrective actions and other action items.
  3. Support planned and forced outages through procedure development and updates.
  4. Serve as a Qualified Procedure Reviewer, representing relevant departments during reviews.
  5. Recommend and implement improvements to administrative processes.
  6. Coordinate with customers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of procedure development.


Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Duties:

  1. Maintain qualification as an ERO team member.
  2. Participate in all team drills and training exercises.
  3. Respond to actual emergencies in accordance with site procedures and expectations.


Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience (Aligned to Levels):

  • Procedure Writer I:
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years at a commercial nuclear power plant, including 2 years in operations or procedure writing; OR high school diploma/GED with 6 years of nuclear plant experience.
  • Procedure Writer II:
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years at a commercial nuclear power plant, including 4 years in operations or procedure writing; OR high school diploma/GED with 10 years of nuclear plant experience.
  • Procedure Writer III:
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years at a commercial nuclear power plant, including 4 years in operations or procedure writing; OR high school diploma/GED with 12 years of nuclear plant experience.


Desired Education and Experience:

  • Previous RO or SRO license.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to understand opposing views.
  • Collaborative team player capable of solving complex issues.


Desired:

  • Familiarity with CGS procedures and standard practices, including ALARA, Industry Safety, Environmental Management System, Chemical Program, and Security.
  • Proficiency with SWP-PRO-03 Procedure Writers Manual.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Passport, MS Word, Plant Tracking Log, and other CGS databases.
