Specialist, Graphic Designer
POSITION PROFILE
Develops and designs complex, multimedia visual communications, sometimes on very short deadlines, such as conference/event materials, internal marketing materials, brochures, publications, and Web page designs. The individual develops visual concepts that satisfy customer needs, prepares these designs for print, Web, or multimedia products, specifying production techniques and materials. Responsible for: selecting fonts and creating a hierarchy of titles; following style manuals or corporate standards if provided; creating layouts; creating/editing illustrations and photographs and deciding how graphic elements are used.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and represents RICOH in a professional manner.
- Strong Organizational/customer service/follow up skills
- Develops new artistic concepts into the visual medium
- Design work with expertise in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver in Mac and PC platform
- Provides graphic consultation
- Provides strong customer service to internal and client stakeholders
- Responsible for production art including page layout to produce print, packaging, advertising, point-of-purchase, and digital graphics
- Meets customer quality and design requirements
- Design and format multipage documents using style sheets and style mapping
- Stays knowledgeable of industry thinking, new ideas, and technologies
- Uses innovation to redefine a design brief and meet the constraints of cost, time and client need
- Adheres to legal requirements relating to duplication, printing, software, and fonts.
- Adheres to production schedules and deadlines.
- Consults with clients and staff to identify their graphic needs, budget constraints, and reasonable deadlines for the project; serves as a liaison between the client and printers/publishers.
- Reviews proofs and works with printers on the production of printed material.
- Familiar with asset management technologies and the ability to manage libraries
- May coordinate and lead the work of other designers.
- Creates and conceptualizes property identities using logos, layout, and color palette.
- Other tasks as assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications)
Typically Required:
- 4-year college degree (Design) preferred or other related coursework/certificates or equivalent years of related work experience
- Intermediate to advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
- Proven design and layout abilities
- Requires a minimum of three years of related job experience
- Print production experience preferred
- Project management experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Graphic design and layout skills
- Ability to use desktop publishing tools, specifically Adobe Creative Suite & Microsoft Suite
- Must be able to work in a team environment by maintaining positive, productive relationships with co-workers, management, sales, and production departments.
- Must be able to adapt to changing situations and be flexible.
- Must be able to perform repetitive work by continuously executing different tasks according to set procedures, sequence, or pace while maintaining quality and output standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level
- Requires internal contact within the department and with other corporate personnel, and external contact with customers, agencies, vendors, etc. and General Public
- Work assignments are diversified Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems New alternatives may be developed to resolve the problem
- Physical effort is required, such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects could weigh up to 50 lbs (e.g., papers, books, files, and small parts, etc.)
- Requires moderate dexterity - regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, and eye/hand coordination
