Job Description
Metrics LLC is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Writer to join our efforts as we compete for a contract to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) Informatics and Program/Project Support (IPPS). The position will play a crucial role in the success of the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) program by ensuring the accurate and professional documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), project schedules, training materials, and various deliverables outlined by the client. This role supports the VAAA's mission of providing program and project management services, data analytics, and strategic planning to meet the growing needs of the VA acquisition workforce.
Work will be performed primarily at the VAAA facility in Frederick, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process flows, strategic plans, and training materials.
- Collaborate with project managers and subject matter experts to collect and organize technical content for documentation.
- Create clear, concise, and user-friendly materials for internal tools, processes, and systems, including training guides and presentations.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with VA policies, Section 508 compliance standards, and applicable security and privacy requirements.
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Assist in preparing technical reports, summaries, and presentations for VA leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain version control and ensure the accuracy of all documentation through rigorous quality assurance processes.
- Provide support in creating and updating content for the VAAA’s web pages and SharePoint sites.
- Develop templates and guidelines to standardize documentation practices across the program.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer during transition-in and transition-out phases by creating comprehensive documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a government or federal contracting environment.
- Proven ability to write and edit complex technical documents, ensuring clarity and adherence to standards.
- Familiarity with Section 508 compliance standards for accessibility.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and tools such as SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
