MORNING EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

KVIA-TV is the number one news station in El Paso, Texas/Las Cruces, New Mexico. We are looking for a creative, energetic and out-of-the-box thinking Morning Executive Producer to help lead our number one "Good Morning El Paso" newscasts.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Executive Producer will lead a team of content creators: including producers, anchors, reporters, and photographers. You must have several years of line producing experience with solid storytelling, writing, teasing, branding, and showcasing abilities. You must have sound news judgement with the ability to make quick, real-time decisions. We are looking for an 'outside of the box' thinker who is constantly looking for ways to differentiate our newscasts. The successful candidate must be a leader when it comes to moving crews, making quick/decisive decisions, and incorporating breaking news across all our content platforms. This position will require a candidate with exceptional people skills who can coach and mentor a diverse team of individuals at all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure daily quality and accuracy in "Good Morning El Paso" newscasts
  • Drive showcasing, pacing and content decisions in newscasts
  • Ensure breaking and developing news makes it into the newscasts
  • Copy edit and approve producer and reporter scripts
  • Protect the First Alert & Breaking News Brand
  • Work closely with the Assignment Desk with content planning.
  • Produce newscasts when needed
  • Send out breaking news push alerts as needed


Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field
  • Must have 2+ years of experience producing newscasts
  • Must understand legal liabilities and ethics
