JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to Director of Communications & Media Relations, responsible for maintaining positive county image and community relations through various county communications and events in support of the Commissioners Court, county departments, and elected offices. Serves as lead for the County's social media accounts and directs office in Director's absence.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Creates, maintains, and deploys a social media calendar with platforms managed by the Public Affairs department Maintains responsibility as lead administrator for archiving social media accounts Maintains responsibility as lead coordinator for social media tool contract and use Researches and writes media releases, brochures, articles, and other written communications Serves as primary subject-matter expert for social media and digital marketing strategies Collects, verifies, drafts, and disseminates news and information through the County website, social media, and other digital channels Hires and supervises office summer intern Maintains responsibility as lead writer for developing and implementing a social media communication strategy for disseminating information and tracking social media engagement Monitors digital feedback and responds to inquiries through related media channels Creates or selects drawings, charts, graphs, photographs, posters, and other illustrative materials used in digital media, publications and presentations Coordinates the County's social media presence and departmental social media editors Writes and designs the County's e-newsletter Serves as liaison to media and other agencies to handle request for interviews and statements in the Director's absence, as needed Rotates responsibility for on-call media inquiries after-business hours and for emergencies Answers the media line and responds to emergency activations and communication requests when on call Assists in the coordination of outreach activities to include public involvement for projects, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, media conferences, etc. Attends all meetings and trainings, as required Performs special duties as assigned ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

Work is primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors for events Travel between work sites, as required IRREGULAR HOURS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, or related field and four (4) years of public information, public relations, social media management, or similar programs; OR an equal combination of education and experience One (1) year of demonstrated lead or supervisory experience Prior AP style writing and social media content creation experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
Valid Texas driver's license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual: Spanish/English Knowledge of Incident Command System and emergency response EMPLOYMENT TESTING
