Position Overview:
Are you a storyteller with a passion for capturing the unique spirit of a community? The Dickinson Press is seeking an enthusiastic Community Pulse Reporter to cover the rich cultural tapestry of southwest North Dakota. From arts and entertainment to food, local businesses, and community events, this position is all about celebrating what makes this region special. Key Responsibilities:
Arts, Entertainment & Community Events
Attend and review local art exhibits, theater performances, concerts, and other cultural happenings. Cover festivals, fairs, and celebrations that bring the community together. Interview artists, performers, and event organizers, capturing the essence of the creative scene in southwest North Dakota. Provide engaging coverage of the cultural significance and history behind local events, offering unique perspectives from participants and attendees. Cuisine & Dining
Profile local dining establishments, chefs, and restaurateurs, focusing on their stories, culinary styles, and contributions to the community. Report on food festivals, special dining events, and trends that reflect the region's unique flavors. Highlight the culinary scene by visiting new and established eateries, sharing insights on the dishes and personalities shaping the local food landscape. Business & Economic Features
Spotlight local businesses, entrepreneurs, and makers, sharing their journeys and impact on the region. Report on local market trends, small business developments, and community-driven economic initiatives. Cover local awards and recognition events, celebrating the achievements of area businesses and leaders. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of reporting experience or demonstrated journalistic skills. Strong writing, interviewing, and research abilities. Curiosity, creativity, and an ability to build relationships within the community. Willingness to cover events on evenings and weekends as needed. Benefits:

Expected compensation for this role is between $19 and $21/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
