Description
The City of Fairburn is seeking an experienced professional for the Marketing & Events Manager position. This position is responsible for the planning, organization, and the development of comprehensive marketing strategies to promote large-scale city events and activities, managing relationships with vendors and stakeholders, and aligning marketing and event programs with the City's goals and branding strategy. Reports to the Economic Development Director.
Hiring Range: $79,247.13 - $83,209.49 annually (Depending on qualifications)
Workday/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Develops and implements comprehensive city-wide marketing strategies to create awareness to promote City events, organizational achievements, and governmental services related to arts, culture, and entertainment. Plans, organizes, and executes city sponsored events and programs, including festivals, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and community gatherings from conception through completion, ensuring all details are managed effectively. Develops a strategic plan for seasonal concert series including theme development while ensuring select performers are booked and secured. Develops and manages marketing, event, and seasonal concert series budgets while ensuring all expenditures are tracked and reported. Negotiates contracts and agreements with sponsors, vendors, and other stakeholders to secure the best rates and services; Ensures contractual obligations are met. Identifies, contacts, and secures performers for concert events. Develops a diverse vendor program to support concerts and events. Creates comprehensive event and concert series timelines, manages all aspects of production including on-site coordination, addressing unforeseen issues, and ensuring smooth execution on the day of the event or concert. Manages event and concert logistics to include identifying and securing audio visual services and needs and adheres to relevant safety regulations. Provides a high level of customer service and manages relationships with coworkers, promoters, influencers, sponsors, and secures vendor talent and volunteers, and manages ticket sales. Collaborates with local businesses, community organizations, and city departments to promote events and initiatives. Coordinates volunteers, event schedules, and Run of Shows. Conducts surveys and assessments in collaboration with the Communications department to evaluate event and program needs. Analyzes marketing data and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts and identify areas for improvement. Collaborates with the Communications department on departmental marketing, press releases, and social medica content for economic development programs, initiatives, and events. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff to develop, plan, and implement goals and objectives, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Directs and participates in setting up and breaking down of decorations, displays, tables, chairs, and other equipment before and after events. Establishes and contributes to a positive, creative, and collaborative culture to continuously improve efficiency, communication, and marketing. Facilitates and manage all event committee meetings. Adheres to all employment practices and requirements established in the City Personnel Policy. Undertakes various projects as assigned by the Economic Development Director. Attends various meetings as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration; or related field supplemented by five (5) years of related experience in marketing, event planning, or economic development, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; and 1-2 years of lead or supervisory experience. Local Government experience is a plus.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid State of Georgia Driver's License
Special Requirements:
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and an acceptable driving record.
Requires satisfactory results from a pre-employment alcohol and controlled substance testing.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing, event planning, concerts, and economic development programs. Knowledge of recent developments and advancement in marketing methodologies and technologies Knowledge of leadership techniques, principles and procedures to assign work, schedule, supervise, train and evaluate the work of assigned staff. Skill in project management methodologies to ensure timely completion of event and concert deliverables. Skill in utilizing a personal computer with word processing, spreadsheet, and related software to effectively complete a variety of administrative tasks with reasonable speed and accuracy. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and social media platforms. Skill in using logic and reasoning to understand, analyze, and evaluate complex situation; performs additional research to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches. Skill in planning, organizing, and managing time, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities. Skill in attention to detail to ensure all audio and visual elements are coordinated for concerts and events. Ability to effectively communicate with artists and performers to understand their desired sound and quality, stage setup, and any special equipment requirements. Abilty to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently during concert and event planning and execution Ability to work well with special event and concert volunteers and volunteer committees. Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving broader aspects of organizational programs and operations, moderately unstable situations, or the direction and planning of an entire program or set of programs. Ability to establish priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time-management methodology. Ability to conduct research, interpret data, and prepare complete and accurate analyses, reports, and recommendations. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees and all levels of management to include City Officials, representatives from other departments, and organizations.
Physical Demands:
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force. Work requires the ability to exert very moderate physical effort, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
