Job Summary: Responsible for contributing field reporting responsibilities to live Rangers game broadcasts, including pre-game and post-game shows, for a minimum of 120 games each season. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the game of baseball, a self-starter, and be capable of enterprising stories gathered through conversation with players, members of the coaching staff, and front office representatives. Candidates should be willing to work in a collaborative environment with both broadcast crew teammates and members of various Club departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
  • Serve in the role of lead field reporter for the Texas Rangers before, during, and after live baseball games-to include working nights, weekends, and some holidays as well as attend and participate in organizational events as needed.
  • Attend all press conferences and media sessions prepared to ask questions and craft pre, in-game, and post-game stories based on information gathered.
  • Develop professional relationships with on-field and front office personnel to understand and deliver content to inform fans and viewers of the storylines of the day.
  • Work closely with the Coordinating Producer and/or Game Producer, as well as Public Relations to facilitate additional access as needed to support all shows.
  • Report and host shows and elements for any additional ancillary programming.
  • Participate in offseason initiatives.
  • Be comfortable in a collaborative environment, able to pitch stories and accept critique.
  • Consider relevant support materials needed to highlight stories - photos, video packages, etc. -and request to producers in a timely manner.
  • Ability to enterprise and write feature content to support digital initiatives.
  • Available to travel for the Major League Baseball season.
  • All other duties as assigned.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a live on-air role, particularly covering professional or affiliated baseball.
  • A professional appearance and demeanor, as well as a team-first attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, as well as the ability to both prepare and ad-lib compelling stories reacting to on-field events.
  • A demonstrated ability to freely converse using terms understood to relate to on-field action in a baseball game.
