Summary:
Under administrative directions, performs work of considerable difficulty in managing the production department, supervising the administration, planning, and execution of program production activities and priorities. Position reports to Associate Director, Electronic Media Communications.
Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops/administers activities for the production of local programming with an emphasis on: 1) AAMU events; 2) public affairs; 3) cultural/performing arts; 4) special projects.
  • Set up and operate audio, video, and lighting equipment for in-house and on-location video productions.
  • Supervises, trains, and coordinates all production activities and associated personnel.
  • Establishes and maintains production values and standards for production projects.
  • Works closely with management and staff to develop programming suitable for broadcast across multiple platforms (television, streaming, etc.).
  • Works closely with management to achieve departmental/ station program production goals.
  • Develops and maintains program schedule for WJAB-TV.
  • Identifies programming from outside sources that can enhance the channel offerings.
  • Provide opportunities for AAMU students to gain real-world experience in all phases of television and events production.
  • Assists management with program proposal preparation and development for submission to funding agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • Bachelor's degree in Television or related field
  • Five years experience in television production, program development, and administration which includes three years in a supervisory capacity;
OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
  • Skill in communication, effectively, both verbally and writing
