MDW is currently seeking a Policy Writer / Analyst to support the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Privacy, Civil Liberties, and Transparency (OATSD(PCLT)) in Alexandria, VA. The analyst will provide full-time support services to the OATSD(PCLT)'s Administrative Office, the Privacy, Civil Liberties, and Freedom of Information Directorate (PCLFD), Intelligence Oversight Directorate (IOD), and the Regulatory Directorate (RD) within the OATSD(PCLT). The successful candidate must demonstrate a familiarity with, and ability to be effective in, the DoD working environment.

The Management Analyst will perform tasks to potentially include:

  • Utilizing research and analytical skills to support the mission of government personnel. Research to be primarily focused on government activities, such as statutes, regulations, memoranda, decisional analyses, and other binding or advisory guidance.
  • Developing plans and coordinating the master work schedule for each Directorate. Assist the Government in conducting workflow planning to produce refined staff packages and other Directorate products.
  • Support the communications and correspondence with the Secretary and DepSecDef, OSD Component Heads, and DoD Component Heads, as well as communications and correspondence external to the Department.
  • Provide editorial review assistance in support of developing and producing final instruments, issuances, staff packages, and green sheets. Assist the Government personnel in advising the leadership on products leaving OATSD PCLT to ensure that the products are aligned with and accurately reflect current staff policy, procedures, direction, and Directorate staffing standards, and that planning and staff product schedules.
  • Providing support to track, integrate, and report on strategic documents and initiatives and activities of senior governance councils and departmental efforts
  • Assisting in gathering and analyzing data and preparing presentations and formal / informal documentation responses in support of internal and external reporting needs.
  • Coordinating, tracking, and monitoring tasks, actions, and projects using internal and external methods and tools.
  • Providing advice and collaborating with other administrative team personnel regarding suspense and tracking control methods used to ensure that deadlines are met.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working within the DoD or other Federal agency, or as contract support to such agency, working with Federal regulatory, privacy, civil liberties, or FOIA program(s).
  • Skill in communicating with senior leaders (e.g., interpersonal skills, approachability, effective listening, appropriate use of style and language).
  • The ability to interact with people at various levels within and outside the organization and to obtain information.

Education Requirement/Required Years of Experience:

  • Master's degree required with a bachelor's degree in Governmental Affairs, Public Policy, Business Administration or a Related Field
  • At least five (5) years' work experience with demonstrated skills and experience to provide executive level project and program support required.

Clearance Requirement(s):

  • Candidates for this position must have an Active US Security Clearance (Secret)
