We’re Hiring: Telecommunications Attendant Location : Stanford University. About the Role: Join our team as a Telecommunications Attendant , where you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth, effective communication across departments, patients, doctors, and staff. This role involves managing high call volumes, dispatching emergency teams, and providing essential paging and directory support in a fast-paced healthcare environment. What You’ll Do: ✅ Connect Callers : Provide directory information and connect callers to the appropriate department, faculty, physician, patient, or student. ✅ Emergency Dispatch : Coordinate and dispatch medical emergency teams for critical alerts such as cardiac arrests, traumas, fire, and disaster recovery situations. ✅ Paging Support : Assist with paging doctors and staff, including off-hour doctor-patient communications, using on-call rosters and relevant tools. ✅ Administrative Tasks : Maintain directory databases, create internal reports, perform system diagnostics, and process forms. ✅ System Support : Utilize call center applications and paging systems while ensuring first-call resolutions. ✅ Collaboration & Improvement : Mentor team members, assist with training, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. What You’ll Bring: Prior experience in a customer service-oriented role, preferably in a medical center or university setting. Polished telephone etiquette with excellent communication, reading, and writing skills in English. Ability to handle high-pressure situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism. Proficiency in operating telecommunications equipment, paging systems, and computer systems (MAC or DOS); typing skills (40-50 WPM). Strong teamwork mindset, familiarity with medical terminology, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
