POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marketing & Business Development Manager (MBDM) will work in conjunction with the General Manager & Director of Events to generate revenue for the facility. The MBDM will be responsible for business development, implementation, and management strategies for the promotion, sales, and tournaments at West Monroe Sports & Events. The preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience in business development and creative targeted marketing campaigns.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Event development and primary contact for all events prior to fulfillment
  • Forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for programs; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition, supply, and demand
  • Responsible for event tracking processes and database
  • Responsible for communication of event details, projections, timelines, marketing objectives, and lodging detail to event operators, management team, and associated facilities, vendors and partners
  • Accomplishes objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, developing field sales action plans
  • Sustains rapport with key accounts by maintaining regular communication, making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Participation in planning/strategic meetings
  • Work with finance department to track and report profitability
  • Development of operational Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports
  • Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail and web)
  • Manage posting schedule and engagement initiatives on social media platforms and help organize marketing events
  • Strategize new ways to engage with our communities and audience
  • Various other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, or related field preferred with 3-5 years appropriate sales experience required
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Solid understanding of different marketing techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office & computer knowledge
  • Experience in youth sports, trade shows, consumer shows or convention sales preferred
  • Experience in contract negotiations, event creation, and planning preferred
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Prior responsibility in P&L management and budget oversight
  • Passion for the marketing industry and its best practices
  • Must be able to work well in a group setting
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimal intermittent travel as needed to various trade shows, networking events, and corporate events
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds waist high
  • Will be required to sit for extended periods of time operating a computer
  • Will be required to conduct venue tours to prospective clients
  • Workplace environment has intermittent noise, generally moderate in nature, but can be loud at times especially during competitions and events
