Director of Power Marketing Location: Portland, OR As the Power Marketing leader, you will be responsible for originating new business in defined regions in the US by developing new and existing customer relationships, communicating the company’s story and key attributes of potential product offerings, and proposing and structuring transactions for the company’s energy storage development portfolio. The director of power marketing will drive strategy development and execution of power marketing activities, ensuring profitability and growth while managing risks effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of power markets, a broad network of contacts at leading energy counterparties (utilities, trading desks, data center/corporate customers), strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of success and innovation in origination within the energy sector. Responsibilities: Lead the development of a comprehensive power marketing strategy aligned with company business objectives. Identify and evaluate opportunities for power marketing including capacity contracts, tolls, and hedges in target markets. Provide input on commercial opportunities to inform greenfield development siting strategy and assess power marketing opportunities for prospective M&A targets. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including utilities, C&I customers, power trading firms, and peers. Secure long-term agreements with utilities and corporations to support the financing and build out of new renewable and/or energy storage projects. Evaluate requests for bids, lead bid strategy and lead a team for bid preparation, competitive analysis and manage participation in procurement processes. Prepare proposals and presentation materials for customers and buyers. Seek opportunities and deal structures that allow for bilateral transactions with customers. Negotiate terms and conditions of revenue contracts (e.g. tolls, capacity and hedge agreements). Qualifications & Competencies Bachelor’s degree Minimum 10 years of experience in energy industry; preferably in gas or renewable energy with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in power origination A solid track record of success in a development or sales capacity in the clean energy sector securing long term power sale agreements on renewable energy projects with utilities and corporations Demonstrated ability to lead, structure, negotiate, coordinate, and execute power sale agreements together with internal and external advisors Knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets Working knowledge of Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) operations, electric transmission, power generation and storage technologies in SPP, ERCOT, CAISO, WECC (MISO/PJM a plus).
