Responsibilities This researcher will cover our internal data storage and data consumption capabilities, and will partner with adjacent efforts on our broader data lake and data consumption tooling workstreams. In the role, you’ll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including: Collaboration & Connecting Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to inform intuitive and engaging customer experiences Translate complex ideas into understandable concepts that evolve and enhance the product experience Advocate for the customer through human-centered research methodologies Champion prioritization of design centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis Actively teach and mentor designers in research methods Work with partners and teams across various geographies Embrace and advocate for an experience mindset - this is as important to the work as the results Participating in hiring by reviewing resumes, conducting interviews and attending consensus Discovery & Delivery Develop a fluency with design research tools and techniques to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making and prioritization Practice and help evolve the team’s research techniques and toolset to work effectively in cross-team collaboration Participate in end-to-end product design by: Conducting rigorous in-person and remote research studies at all stages from discovery to validation, using a variety of methods to understand customer needs and define opportunities such as in-depth interviewing, usability studies, card sorting, field studies, cognitive walk-throughs, contextual inquiry, participatory design. Helping designers and non-designers on project teams understand and apply research findings by framing problems, defining insights, and designing new methodologies/practices to serve customer needs Distilling findings into clearly articulated and actionable insights and recommendations to influence product design for stakeholders Facilitating and participating in workshops with internal and external stakeholders to align with business needs Present research and analysis clearly and effectively across various organizations by supporting, explaining, and demonstrating research insights to a variety of audience types from design experts to non-designers Basic Qualifications Masters Degree in a social science, human factors, cognitive science, human computer interaction or behavioral economics At least 2 years of experience with human subjects research Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree or certifications in a design or research related field Experience or familiarity with quant UX research methods Comfortable working with a variety of business partners, delivering outcomes, and program management At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location: McLean, VA: $127,500 - $145,500 for Pr. Associate, Design New York, NY: $139,100 - $158,700 for Pr. Associate, Design Richmond, VA: $115,900 - $132,200 for Pr. Associate, Design This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
